Validation and peace of mind

One month in returning to school, college, as a student, and I am loving the freedom to express, to read, to write, to manage my time, and to discuss many different educational trends and life.

Absolutely do not miss being back in my classroom; will not go back there without changes, and even then I doubt it. I will be ready to try my new found learning elsewhere, where it will be appreciated and I will be respected for what I know as much as who I am.

However, I see so many things I was doing that was good for my students’ learning, for their confidence, their training for the future, and I think of the times I was told I was “using too much technology” or too few summative tests. Thank goodness I now have validation that those teaching techniques and strategies were good for students. Isn’t that the bottom line? Doing what is good for student learning?
