Small celebration of friendship turned into a wake of sorts of the school district I am loosely attached to through a leave of absence for this year. Fifty percent of last year’s staff is gone as of Monday (08.11); at least one more will be gone before the end of this school year if they have their way. People jumping ship faster than you can say Standardized testing scores (well almost).
Instead of commiserating our lot in life, we talked of friendship, students-former and current, life plans and how they really turned out. The margaritas loosened our tongues but not our senses. Perfect ending to summer and the beginning of the new (school) year.
Celebrate the good, the strengths, and prepare yourself for the new year in a way that not only will we survive, but we will thrive.
